| With two youngsters to bring on I felt Eeva wasn't getting the one-to-one time so deserved, so in May 2018 I booked us on a Girly Day - we went and had a go at Dog Parkour. She really took to it and we started to explore on our walks. I was lucky enough to get a cancellation place on the International Dog Parkour Association's Instructors Weekend in July 2018. I didn't realise just how lucky at the time as this was one of only 2 courses the IDPKA were planning to run in the UK. Eeva came with me and we had a ball. She adored Tic-Tacs and we had great fun on the practical session - especially when we got to explore one of Preston's parks. We returned motivated and cracked on with filming her Novice submission. |
![]() | While I was filming for Eeva's Novice I started to have a go with my oldie Rupert. Eeva's titling was put on hold while I concentrated on him (well he was already 14). We did, however, manage to film all the requirements for her Level 1 In Specialist. For the Specialist titles you have to interact with objects already in the environment and you must use them as you find them, no flipping them over or moving them to a better camera angle. Ins are some of the most difficult objects to find out and about and it was a real test of our developing Parkour Eye. Eeva is a natural for Dog Parkour. She loves bounding though the woods - on, over and under things. Her natural exuberance shines through. Her enthusiasm can lead to over-confidence which has certainly helped me develop my spotting skills. She is also an expert in finding the more challenging ways on and off objects. I do have a lot of her 4 feet on Specialist and Intermediate filmed and ready to process, although it has been fun just exploring what we find.
